There’s so much to do in Old Town Lafayette without ever having to get in your car. This month’s walk covers barely two blocks — you could drive it in about ten seconds — but on foot, it’s a café, a gallery, a gift shop, an antique mall, and a brewery, all within a few minutes of each other. Here’s how to do it right.
Stop 1: eats & sweets — start with something sweet
Start where Old Town starts most good afternoons: eats & sweets, a locally owned café and bakery right on Public Road. Build your own sandwich or salad if you’re making a meal of it, or skip straight to dessert — this is the home of the banana bread ice cream sandwich, house-made ice cream tucked between two slices of fresh banana bread, and it’s worth the trip on its own. Grab something to go; you’ll want your hands free for the next stop, which happens to be right next door.

Stop 2: pARTiculars — browse local art without leaving the building
Tucked into the same building as eats & sweets is pARTiculars, an artist-owned cooperative gallery and teaching studio that’s been part of Old Town since 2008. Original paintings, jewelry, ceramics, fiber art, photography, and more fill the space, all made by local and regional artists — this isn’t a gift shop stocked from a catalog; it’s work you can trace back to a specific person’s studio. If you’re visiting on a First Friday Art Night Out, look for a featured-artist reception in progress.

Stop 3: Tibetan Souvenirs — a small shop with a big selection
Still in the same building, just a different door, Tibetan Souvenirs is a family-owned shop specializing in Tibetan, Indian, and Nepalese handicrafts — think singing bowls, prayer flags, felted goods, textiles, and jewelry, much of it imported directly and handmade. It’s an easy place to lose track of time, and an even easier place to find a gift that doesn’t look like it came from anywhere else in town.

Hours: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM daily. Tibetan Souvenirs

Stop 4: Noble Treasures Antiques — 6,000 square feet of “one more thing”
Next door at 409 S Public Road, Noble Treasures Antiques is exactly the kind of shop that swallows an afternoon. More than 20 independent dealer booths fill roughly 6,000 square feet with furniture, vintage jewelry, local art, old books, glassware, and the kind of oddities that make antiquing fun in the first place. The building itself has roots in Old Town going back to the 1980s — locals still know it as the old West’s Antiques location — and staff who’ve been around long enough to point you toward whatever you didn’t know you were looking for.

Stop 5: The Post Brewing Company — end the walk with dinner and a beer
Round the corner onto W. Emma Street and the walk ends at The Post Brewing Company, Old Town’s original location for the Colorado brewery-and-fried-chicken chain, brewing on-site since 2014. Settle into the patio (there’s a fire pit and cornhole if you’re not in a hurry) for a flight of house-brewed beer and a plate of their buttermilk-brined fried chicken, or one of the kitchen’s vegetarian and seafood options if chicken isn’t the move today. It’s a full meal, a full stop, and a good excuse to sit down after a block’s worth of browsing.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 11:30 AM–9:00 PM; Saturday–Sunday, 10:00 AM–9:00 PM. Brunch Saturday–Sunday, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM.
